Dr. Jay Villella, DC
Doctor of Chiropractic, Palmer College of Chiropractic
For more than 25 years, Dr. Jay Villella has been one of Columbus’s most trusted and decorated chiropractors. He founded Lane Avenue Wellness Center in 2002 and has grown it into one of the largest natural healthcare facilities in central Ohio, built on a single guiding principle: find the cause, fix the problem, and help patients get back to living fully.
A Career Built on Results
Dr. Jay earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, along with a Bachelor of Science degree and teaching certification in Health and Physical Education. While at Palmer, he founded and directed the Palmer Sports Council, a program that has since expanded to three chiropractic college campuses across the country.
Since graduating, Dr. Jay has become a recognized authority on the nervous system, spinal correction, and the natural laws of health and healing. His path into chiropractic was personal. As a child, he battled severe, debilitating allergies and migraine headaches and refused to accept medication as a long-term solution. It was chiropractic care that gave him lasting relief, and that experience shaped everything about how he practices today.
National Recognition & Advanced Certifications
Dr. Jay’s expertise in spinal decompression and neuropathy care has earned him recognition at the highest levels of his profession. In 2022, he was named one of the Best Spinal Decompression Doctors in America by the International Medical Advisory Board on Spinal Decompression and one of the Best Neuropathy Physicians in America by the International Neuropathy Association, earning him the cover of both publications that year.
That same year, he received advanced certification in disc disorders through the International Medical Advisory Board on Spinal Decompression and was recognized as a member of the International Disc Education Association’s Research, Science, and Technology division. He is also a member of the BluePrint Health Care Network, a nationwide group of doctors trained in advanced, evidence-based neuropathy treatment protocols.
These credentials are not honorary. They reflect years of post-graduate study, clinical application, and a commitment to staying at the forefront of non-surgical care for conditions that have traditionally been difficult to treat.
Elite Athletic & Public Service Care
Dr. Jay’s clinical reach extends well beyond the everyday. He has worked with Olympic-caliber athletes on USA Wrestling, USA Judo, and USA Weightlifting teams and served as a treating chiropractor for the USA Olympic Wrestling Team at the 2012 London Games. He has also proudly provided care for nearly one thousand Columbus Fire and Police officers over the course of his career.
His Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Jay’s philosophy is straightforward: lasting health requires correcting the root cause of a problem, not managing its symptoms. Every patient who walks through the door receives a thorough evaluation using advanced diagnostic tools, including motion X-rays and thermographic scans, tools that go further than what most chiropractic offices offer and that allow him to identify exactly which structures are involved and why.
Care plans extend beyond the adjustment. Dr. Jay invests time in educating each patient about what is happening in their body and supports long-term progress through guidance on nutrition, home exercises, and supportive therapies that reinforce what is being done in the office. It is an approach that works: roughly 40% of his patients have been with the practice for over 20 years.
