Gentle Chiropractic Care for Babies, Kids, and Teens

At Lane Avenue Wellness Center, we see kids of all ages—from newborns just a few days old to toddlers learning to walk, school-aged kids hauling heavy backpacks, and teenagers glued to their phones. Kids are active, curious, and constantly growing, which means little slips, falls, bumps, and posture habits can add up faster than you’d think.

Dr. Jay and Dr. Craig both provide pediatric chiropractic at our Upper Arlington location, and they keep everything gentle, calm, and kid-friendly so families feel comfortable from the start.

Why Parents Choose Pediatric Chiropractic

A lot of parents bring their kids in because they want to be proactive, not reactive. Kids bounce back quickly, sure—but they can also “bounce back” while the spine or pelvis stays slightly out of alignment. Over time, that can affect how the body moves and how comfortably a child keeps up with school, sports, and everyday life. Chiropractic care is often used as part of a preventative routine to help kids stay closer to their full potential as they grow.

Newborn and Infant Visits: Small Changes Can Matter

Some families choose to bring in newborns as early as one week old. Birth—even a smooth one—can involve twisting, pressure, and positioning that may affect a baby’s neck movement, especially when it comes to turning their head to latch and feed. Dr. Jay may use incredibly light touch, sometimes just gentle finger contact, to help guide movement and support better comfort. Dr. Craig, who has a background in athletic training and worked with post-surgical patients during his internship at University of Buffalo Neurosurgery, brings that same careful, compassionate approach to infant care. Visits are designed to feel safe, easy, and supportive for both baby and parent.

Support for Posture, Backpacks, and “Tech Neck”

As kids get older, new stressors show up fast—heavy backpacks, sports impacts, and long hours with phones and laptops. Dr. Craig sees this a lot, especially with teenage athletes. Many teens spend their day looking down at screens, which can strain the neck and contribute to headaches and posture changes.

Pediatric chiropractic helps by checking spinal function, supporting healthier alignment, and improving how the body moves under daily stress. It’s a simple way to help your child feel better now while building better habits for the future.

Getting Started Is Easy

New patients pay $49 for the first visit, which takes around 30 minutes. We’ll go through your child’s history, do any testing we need, and take X-rays if indicated. Your second visit is all about reviewing what we found and talking through recommendations—no rush, just clear information. We keep same-day appointments open when we can, and we accept insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. Pediatric chiropractic is only available at our Upper Arlington location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do children need to come in for care as often as adults?

Not always—every child’s needs and goals are different. Dr. Jay or Dr. Craig will make recommendations based on what’s found during the evaluation.

Why should I have my infant checked soon after birth?

Birth can involve pressure and twisting that may affect a baby’s neck movement and comfort. Some families choose early checks to support easier head turning and feeding comfort.

Can chiropractic help my child’s posture?

Yes, posture is a common concern, especially with heavy backpacks and long hours on screens. Chiropractic care can support healthier alignment and function as your child grows.
